How lenders assess a business, the role of credit history and the options available for financing were among the questions explored at CanCham Cambodia's Banking and Financing Seminar on 19 June 2026.

David Sok Dara Marshall, introduced in the event programme as Maybank's Chief Risk Officer, led the session at Elysee Cafe of Dara Hotel Group. Professionals and business leaders joined the discussion on Cambodia's banking and financial sector.

Understanding the lending conversation

The programme covered lending and credit-assessment processes, interest rates, credit history, financing options and market trends. Taken together, those subjects gave participants a broader view of financing than the headline interest rate alone.

An interactive question-and-answer session gave attendees space to raise concerns and share their own experiences. That exchange connected the speaker's sector knowledge with the situations businesses encounter when considering finance.

The seminar was a forum for learning and discussion, not a lending offer or a decision on individual applications. Its practical focus was on understanding the factors and processes involved, while allowing members to hear questions and perspectives from other businesses.

CanCham thanked Marshall for sharing his expertise and the venue for hosting the gathering.
