CanCham and Environment Ministry explore green investment and climate cooperation
A meeting with Minister Eang Sophalleth identified potential collaboration in climate finance, forest restoration, waste management and the circular economy.
Green investment, climate finance and waste management were among the areas explored when CanCham Cambodia met Minister of Environment Dr. Eang Sophalleth on 29 July 2026.
The meeting considered Cambodia's environmental priorities and how responsible investment, innovation and partnerships could contribute to them. Forest restoration and the circular economy were also identified as potential areas for cooperation.
Connecting environmental priorities with business participation
The breadth of the discussion brought several types of contribution into view: finance, investment, environmental restoration and the way resources and waste are managed. This provides a starting point for considering where business expertise can connect with the Ministry's priorities.
The exchange was exploratory. It identified subjects for further collaboration rather than announcing an approved investment, funded project or delivery timetable.
CanCham expressed interest in building on the dialogue through practical initiatives with the Ministry and the Canadian business community. The aim is to connect commercial participation with Cambodia's environmental goals and sustainable economic development.
The Chamber thanked the Minister and the Ministry for the exchange and for the opportunity to discuss how that cooperation could develop.
