CanCham supports World Bank briefing on Cambodia's economic outlook

A members-only session at Novotel brought chambers together to consider economic pressures and the challenges facing Cambodia's informal sector.

CanCham Cambodia supported a World Bank economic briefing at Novotel on 21 January 2026, bringing several chambers together for a members-only discussion of Cambodia's outlook.

The closed-door session was held under Chatham House rules. Broad themes subsequently shared publicly included regional instability and border tensions, global tariffs and trade uncertainty, and the effects of the real-estate and construction correction on employment, credit and domestic demand.

The discussion also examined the vulnerability of the informal economy, including limited access to finance and social protection. Simpler compliance, predictable regulation and practical benefits from formalisation were among the themes identified.
